Ombre Nails

Everyone seems to be using the Ombre/Gradient effect on their hair, clothes and nails.
Here's how I do the Ombre effect.

What you need:
Base/Top Coat
2/3 Nail varnishes
Sponge (make-up or kitchen)

Start with a base coat to protect your nails

Apply a base colour. I've used black

Once the base colour has dried, brush the other colour polish onto a piece of sponge

Sponge the colour onto the nail, focusing on the middle and the tip of the nail. Allow the sponged on varnish to dry completely

Then brush the darker colour onto the sponge and use the same sponging technique to apply the colour to the tip of the nail

Allow the varnish to dry completely and a apply a top coat
The products I used for this design were;
Base Coat: Barry M - Black
Light Blue (the first colour used): Barry M - Cyan Blue
Dark Blue (the second colour used): Barry M - Cobalt Blue
Top Coat: Collection 2000 - Sparkle Top Coat

Smooth Moves

Sun shinning and mushy strawberries can only mean one thing.
Homemade Strawberry Smoothie

Here's how I made it;
10 strawberries
200ml of semi-skimmed milk
1 Tablespoon of sugar
5/6 Ice cubes

I put all of the ingredients in a blender and blended it until it became frothy and smooth looking.
I then poured it into a large glass and added a straw

A quick and easy summer smoothie that everyone will enjoy and has very few calories.

I hope you enjoy

Summer Body Part 2

So, It's been a while since I posted even though I said I would post every week. I have been rather busy with school  to write anything. So here is an update on my Summer Body;

In my last post, I said that I would drink water, a lot of water. Well, I didn't stick to it which sucks! And to be honest, I've done nothing to shift my weight especially since we've had Easter recently and I've stuffed my face with chocolate.

No I'm going to really put my foot down with what I eat. No more junk AT ALL (once my Easter eggs have gone). And I shall only be drinking water and tea as they have no fat, sugar or any other badness. I'll also stop with the alcohol on the weekends, my liver must hate me haha.

I shall update next week and actually do it.

Summer Body?

So it's March 13th, the time where everyone starts to panic about getting the perfect 'beach' body. I am one of those people.

On July 10th I will be hitting Magaluf with my best girls for our summer holiday. I'm excited for it but I am the biggest out of my group of friends. This does get me down and hearing that they want to lose weigh before hitting the beach makes me feel like a whale and they're mostly size 8-10 and I'm a size 12-14. So I think it's time that I started to do something about it.

I would love to get into a size 10 before June as I need time to buy myself clothes and a dress for the summer ball. My target is to lose about 3stone/42pounds in 3 months. I might not get to my desired weight in time, but losing any weight is better than nothing.

I'm not the type of person who loves to visit the gym and run laps around where I live so exercise will be a very minimum for me. So instead I am going to start my weight lose by drinking half of my body weight in water everyday, which will be tricky as I find water to boring. All sugary drinks and snacks are going to be banished from my house and I might have the cheeky treat once every two weeks, 'cause everyone knows we need treats.

After a week of cutting out the sugar and clearing my body with water, I'm also going to cut down my portion sizes and eat more healthily, more regularly and see how my weight goes.

I shall update you guys on my weight lose every week. If anyone is trying to lose weight, join me with my plan and just remember you  can do anything you set your mind to!
See you next week

Purple Dip Dye

I decided that I would take the plunge and 'dip dye' the ends of my hair. It took me a while to decide on a colour that would suit my hair as I didn't want to dye all of my hair brown and then dip dye the ends as it would be too damaged and it has taken me a year and over £300 to finally get it back blonde.

Before I started with the dying of the ends, I re-dyed the roots of my hair so it was all one colour. I used Schwarzkopf LIVE Colour XXL in the shade 00A-AbsolutePlatinum;
For the dip dye, I chose to go for purple. Most people dip dye their hair pink, blue or green and I wanted to be 'original' and go for a colour that is rarely used on blonde hair. I went to Tesco, a well known supermarket in the UK. I looked to find a light purple/violet colour and spotted the Schwarzkopf LIVE Luminance in the shade L76-Ultra Violet;
The colour of the image above looks like a very light purple/pink kind of colour so I thought that would look perfect on my hair.
I gathered all of the things that I would need. This included strips of foil, a plastic bowl and a brush/mixer. Instead of mixing the dye in the applicator bottle, I thought it would be easier to apply the dye to my hair from a bowl.

I took a section of my hair and applied the dye on about an inch and a half of the ends of my hair then wrapped it in a foil strip. (I have no pictures of this as my hands were covered in dye, sorry)
I then continued this process for all of the ends of my hair.
I waited for 30minutes before checking the colour of the dye under the foils and then washing it out over the sink.
I then washed my hair with shampoo to ensure that I had all of the blonde and purple dye out of my hair and then conditioned it with the conditioner that comes with the box dye.
I then let my hair dry natually in a towel and styled it as normal.
To my suprise, the purple was a lot darker that I wanted but I thought that it looked rather nice, here are some pictures of the final result;

I hope that this has inspired or helped any of you with dip dying your hair or anyone else's hair. It is a really simple way of getting colour in your hair without having to commit too much.

New Year, New Start

I've been intending to start blogging for a while now but never felt like the time was right.
As it's now 2012 I have decided that I will change the way I do things with my life and actually live by my resolutions (go to the gym, eat more healthy and become more confident).

So this is the start of my confidence boost. Showing everyone how I feel and what I love through a blog.
I hope you enjoy my life
